I wake up in a
dark 10 by 10 box.
Tiles torn and ripped up,
Tick Tock, clicked the clocks.
My ties were tied with
rope behind my back,
Unusual sounds came from the walls.
Click, bang, boom, crack.
My eyes flew open and
I was snug in my cozy little bed.
Still, nightmares flushed
my innocent, tiny mind.
I felt vulnerable in the
darkness of the night.
Goodnight, sleep tight,
don’t let the bedbugs bite.
My closet stood
straight in front of me.
I may be hallucinating. I saw
monsters. “MOMMY!” I scream.
I felt vulnerable in the
darkness of the night.
Goodnight, sleep tight,
don’t let the bedbugs bite.
My eyes flew open and
I was snug in my cozy little bed.
My mind filled with
thoughts of love and warmth instead.
